No, so far as I know we still have some liberty in that area. No thanks to Michelle Obama!
I know that many school systems have taken soda pop machines out of the schools. I don't know anything about mandatory exercise regimens. I can't even imagine the government, local, state or federal trying to infringe on people's lives in this way.
Don't get me wrong, I see and know that there's a problem with obesity in our country. I believe that we've had as much education about that as we have any other health risk. But it takes time for it to really mean something to people. How long have the "authorities" been preaching about the hazards of smoking? It seems to be finally working. Do you think that would have happened if it had been prohibited? Heck no! That would only create a black market.
I apologize if this has sounded like a rant. I just can't help thinking, everytime this comes up in the news, wonder what the people in those countries that are starving think of us now!?
Orignal From: Does anyone know of any states or countries that have laws enacted to fight obesity?
