Has anyone on here been Obese & Pregnant..POCS..&? (like 250lb+up)?

Has anyone on here been Obese & Pregnant..POCS..&? (like 250lb+up)?I been working on losing weight im 301lbs,i have POCS,& im a couple weeks pregnant. Im just wondering what are all the complications other bigger girls went threw with being bigger and pregnant?

I know im gonna gain more weight and end up being a good bit over 300lbs...

I am planning on eating healthy for my baby, this pregnancy has made me really kick start this diet,i know im not really eating for 2 and that its fine to continue on with my diet as long as i get all the nutrients that i need.

I would like to hear some stories from other obese people, that actually had a successful pregnancy.

Also..

Complications, that normal sized girls dont have?

How likely is it that i will even feel my baby moving inside me?

Anything else i should know?

Thanks for all the help (:

When I got pregnant with my twins I weighed 230 lbs. I also had PCOS. I did not have any complications until the 36 week mark and that was with my blood pressure going up. Other than that I had a very healthy pregnancy.

I too decided that I was going to eat healthy and not want to gain too much weight. My doctor told me that a pregnant woman only needs an extra 200 calories a day. A lot of woman use the excuse of pregnancy to eat and I knew that I was not going to be able to have that attitude...most woman can afford to gain weight in pregnancy but I knew that it would not be safe for me.

I ate my 3 healthy meals a day and snacked on fruit or carrot sticks or yogurt if I felt I needed something in between meals. I continued walking every night with my husband and dogs until my 20th week when my doctor told me to stop. I only gained 45 lbs with my pregnancy. I was pretty proud of myself because I did not think that was bad for having 2 babies in there :) I was able to lose all but 10 lbs of it pretty easily. It was a struggle to lose that 10 but I did it!

A lot of problems they say heavier woman have is gestational diabetes and high blood pressure. In all fairness though, that can happen to a perfectly healthy weighted woman. I have a friend who was on blood pressure meds her whole pregnancy and she only weighed 125 lbs. I know of other woman too who have had gestational diabetes and not all of them were overweight.

Good luck to you!

Hi. I did not have POCS but when I got pregnant I was 250lbs. It was a total surprise. I was a high risk pregnancy because of my weight and a few other health problems unrelated to weight. By 10 weeks pregnant I had dropped 35lbs. My doctor said that it was fine. It was just because I changed the way I ate. I was eating very healthy. By 4 months pregnant I had dropped a total of 55lbs. I only gained 25lbs back during the entire pregnancy because I maintained a healthy diet throughout. I took all the necessary viatamins and walked every night, not to mention I worked up until 3 weeks before my daughter was born. I was a nanny so I was always on my feet.

The last week of my pregnancy was the ONLY time my blood pressure went up, so I was induced.
My blood pressure had stayed at normal range until then.

I felt my daughter move when I was 12 weeks pregnant. She was very active. You will be able to feel your baby also. :)

My doctor had some concerns from my other health related issues but thank goodness my pregnancy went fine. My delivery was an entirely different story. It was long haha, but it was good!

One thing my doctor and I talked about was a C-section. I did not want one and he did not want to have to do one on me because he said it takes longer for bigger girls to heal and there can be some complications with that. I delivered vaginally. If you have to have one, then you have to have one, but it's easier on our bodies to deliver vaginally.

Good luck and congrats! :)

Congratulations!! I'm a big girl, but I always lose weight when I'm pregnant. I just don't have an appetite and with baby pushing on my stomach I can't eat as much as I used to anyways. You will still feel the baby even if you can't look down and see it. You will probably have a lot of joint pain, back pain, pain in your hips and knees, shortness of breath, and be tired all the time.
Drink as much water as you can don't drink diet ANYTHING (that crap is horrible for both of you) that means sugar free stuff is BAD, "no sugar added" is fine if you don't see the fake sugar stuff on the ingredients.
Fast food makes me feel disgusting, I eat mostly raw fruits and veggies with lean meats. All my pastas are whole grain. I'm 6 months now and I've went from a size 22 to a 16 stretch.
I have my babies at home naturally no drugs, no pain, no stress.
Good luck to you and your new baby!!

When I got pregnant I weighed right at 210, but I hit 240 by the time I was full term (40 weeks). I actually lost 15 pounds during my first trimester due to bad morning sickness, so my doctor gave me the go ahead that I could gain the whole 35 pounds given the weight loss, which I did. I didn't have a single problem, which i'm thankful for. My blood pressure was always perfect or sometimes even slightly low. I was tested twice for gestational diabetes and both times I passed the tests with flying colors. I had a great pregnancy. I felt great and everything was normal and I was not considered high risk. I don't carry much of my weight in the stomach, so I really showed a lot during pregnancy and I felt the baby kick fine...right at 17 weeks and never seemed to stop lol. I started showing early and by 8 months everyone was asking if it was twins, so being overweight doesn't mean you won't show. I had two ultrasounds and my regular checkups and nothing more than that through the whole pregnancy. I never had to have any special tests done due to my weight and never even a non stress test....it was a very low key pregnancy and i'm thankful for that everyday. Whats important is to take care of yourself and listen to your body. If your tired then rest, if your hungry then eat (and I agree that you can eat healthy while pregnant, which I did also). I deliverd a healthy 8 pound little girl and it was the best day of my life. Congrats to you and good luck. Take care of yourself and I wish you the best.

Hey...I answered your question on the other board. I was reading through these answers and I just wanted to comment on the person's comment saying that all women that are that big and pregnant are considered high risk. That's not true. I was never considered high risk. The only time they had trouble seeing something on an ultrasound was when my daughter wouldn't turn the right way for them to check her heart and only then did I have to go to a high risk doctor. But I only had to go once just so they could use their machine on me since it was a level 2 ultrasound machine and there was no way for my daughter to hide anything then. Other than that, they were able to see everything they wanted to see....even through all my fat. LOL.

I am not trying to argue with anybody but I just don't want a comment like that to scare you. Like I said in my other answer, yes, the risks do go up if you are overweight when you get pregnant but being overweight doesn't mean you will have problems. My best friend is not a big girl and she has the most AWFUL pregnancies! Really high blood pressure, gestational diabetes......anybody can have them.
