Is it true that obesity might be related to some hormonal disfunctioning?

Is it true that obesity might be related to some hormonal disfunctioning?Hello, everyone. I am 22 years old. My height is 161 cm (5'4") and my weight is 110 kgs (247lbs). My problem is that I gain weight very easily. I tried several diets but my weight loss is very very difficult. I always lose much less weight than the average weight loss for that diet. Once I stop dieting, I gain weight quickly and usually end up fatter than I started. I compare what I eat and the quanities with people I know and I am a very average eater. My level of exercise is moderate, too. I have no health problems or diseases. My immunity is weak when it comes to catching the flu and things like that. I was a chubby kid, but since puberty, I started becoming really obese. Could it be my glands? Could some hormone be in imbalance in my body? A friend told me that as she knows that I eat too little for my weight. What are the probabilities of something wrong there? What kinds of treatment are used? Is it safe? Any side effects? Is it effective? Please share anything you know. Thanks!

It could be a thyroid problem.

You need to get checked out by your doctor

some doctors say its sort of genes that controls the fat, if you your want to impress someone you'll do something. one advise is drink 2 to 3 glasses of water before eating. avoid the junkfood and you'll lose weight even you don't exercise

It is certainly possible that a hormone imbalance could be involved. Your thyroid is one possibility, but it could be others. Start with your general practitioner, but (s)he will likely refer you to an endocrinologist. Good luck.

I think it is hormonal imbalance Ill tell you why when women get on the birth control shot they tend to gain or lose weight on it usually gain its because the shot deprovra is made up of hormones. I know there are Doctors for obese patients try and look one up in your area he will secifically let you know your promblem. Please seek help as soon as possible dont let the situation get any worse because being over weight eventually does lead to seriouse health promblems. Goodluck

There are hormonal problems that can cause obesity. You should have yourself checked thoroughly by a physician.

If everything comes back negative (and it probably will), then you need to look at a medically directed plan for weight loss.

The problem is, it doesn't take a lot of food to maintain a large body. You should try a low calorie (I'm talking 1000-1200 calories per day) diet and an exercise program. With that, you should be able to lose 1-2 pounds per week. It might take a week or two before you lose any weight at all.

It sucks, but that's really the only way to do it.

Comparing yourself to others is useless. Everyone's metabolism is different.

Good luck.
