What can you do to get an obese cat to exercise/ lose weight?~She is four years old
~Weighs thirty pounds
~Sleeps out the day quite frequently
~Eats very often with large amounts at a time
~As of right now, we have her on an automatic feeder, so she eats when she wants
i HAve a dog and i will try to switch to wet food and get a laser light

Helpfull
Get a dog! It will chase the cat and the cat will get exercise!

You should take her automatic feeder away and hold food in front of her when she's hungry and get her to start walking towards you and give her one every 15 steps or more, pets always do whatever to get food when they're hungry!

Automatic feeder means dry food. Dry food is fattening. Switch to wet. Buy a laser light, that should entertain her for a while. Feathers on a stick, little balls, anything that will keep her busy but if you don't stop the dry food, she most likely will not lose any weight...

My husbands cat was on wet food and was HUGE. My 3 cats are all on dry food. My youngest male was 20 pounds when I first adopted him. I took him for walks on a leash, played with him for at least 15 minutes a day with a feather stick and changed his diet to the light dry cat food. We fed him the required amount and he lost weight. In 3 years he lost 4 pounds! He looks forwards to his walks now and at night he begs us to play. He is so full of energy that sometimes he drives us nuts. We are so happy he is a lot healthier now then when he first joined us.
