He used to call me on the telephone every night and we talked for about three to four hours (not always about my church) and I was getting very annoyed.
He also has had for many years:
Congestive heart failure
Severe asthma
Cellulitis of the legs
Sleep apnea
Obesity (well over 300 pounds)
Given all these conditions at once, how has he survived for so long unless it's for the reason I stated? Since 2002 he had kept telling me his time was "short" until two years ago. He has stopped telling me that because he knows I won't believe him anymore. Am I wrong in being skeptical about his sicknesses and thinking he is either a hypochondriac or being deceived by an evil spirit.

He is definitely hypochondriac. It's a mental illness of a sorts. He is not being deceived by an evil spirit. He is just trying to get attention with these so called "messages from god". Either that or he is insane.

Sounds like he has nothing better to do than eat pies and make stuff up, the fact that he told you that he had messages from God that never happened shows that he is a liar or loony.
And since when did God (even if He is real) have nothing better to do than smite annoying handymen?
He sounds like a sick lonely old man that is trying to get some attention whatever way he can.

I don't know, but I know of a similar case like this, and the person is still alive! So, I don't think it means anything! Oh and, what is an aneurism? The only Aneurism I know, is the song by Nirvana! It could also have a lot to do with mental and psychology! I would post this in the psychology section too, to see what they have to say! I think it's more psylogical then paranormal! Maybe his fear of dieing is causing him to imagine things that arent actualy happening! I don't know what an aneurism is, but it sounds bad!

Prophecy only comes from God if it actually comes to pass. If your friend was actually receiving messages from someone he thought was God and they didn't come true he was listening to a deceiving spirit. Many people who claim mental illness of hearing voices in their heads or from other sources like TVS and radios are actually being deceived. However, your friend may just have problems with self image and rejection that can cause him to need attention. I would just be his friend and encourage him in positive ways as much as possible.

Honestly, it sounds like he is just looking for attention. If he was really hearing from "God" or a "demon".. then these prophecies would be coming true, which according to you are not.
