In keeping with the Nanny State mindset, shouldn't we outlaw overeating?

In keeping with the Nanny State mindset, shouldn't we outlaw overeating?Obesity is a costly and destructive epidemic in America.

Complications from obesity kill/harm more people than marijuana and alcohol.

We could have random, police traffic stops to look for evidence of high-calorie fast-food purchases. Underage teens eating pizza, and drinking sugar-laden soft drinks, would be sent to juvenile courts, and their parents would be arrested and imprisoned.

Only the government can save us, right?

When and if socialized medicine comes to the USA, the government will begin to make all kinds of unhealthy or risky activities illegal....

Smoking, overeating, obesity, skiing, motorcycles...ect.

"Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery."
Winston Churchill

I think it wouldn't be too hard to make a case here. The trick, of course, is the notion that we are to be 'let alone' by the government.
But you strike at the heart of a fundamental question. The way out of it, of course, is either complete and over-arching supervision or every person for themself. As long as I am told I must contribute to the common good, I'm going to way to have some say about what I am and am not willing to pay for.

na, with the Republicans runnin things, you would find that the enforcement would all be highly paid Junk Food Mercenaries with backdoor contracts with McDonald's and Taco Bell and Burger King~!!!

then with them cracking down and declaring a "War on Terroristic Foods", they would get carried away and bust everyone for Sugerless Gum, Lean Cusines, Slim Fast Shakes, and throw us in with the hardcore Food Junkies~!!!

then while we were secretly sent to Government controlled Fat Farms after giving up all your Buffet and All you Can Eat
rights, you would be imprisoned and forced to eat Melba Toast and drink Mexico's Tap Water~!!!

there would be total chaos, anarchy, food binges and Chocolate and Mayonaise riots in the streets~!!!

Not all obese people over eat. I know many who eat less than I do and I don't eat much because I had a heart attack a few weeks ago. The government can't do anything about over eating. It's impossible.
