There are plenty of skinny people with diabetes, hon. Your sister's diet is a recipe for disaster, and diabetes isn't the only thing she's at risk from.
You can try and talk to her about it, but it's quite possible that she won't listen to you, if for no other reason than you're her sister. Unfortunately it often takes a horrible shock - such as being diagnosed with something bad like diabetes - to really wake people up to what they're doing. But by all means, do try and talk to her about your concerns for her health. At least let her know that you care and that you're willing to help her make a change if that's what she wants.
No matter how much you want to, you can't force a person to change. Believe me, I've tried.
Good luck, hon.

If she continues to eat like THAT , then YES.....Just say something to her, like telling her about the risks and hope that she listens to you. dont forget to tell her how much you care and how worried you are for her.

What you have to know is there are two types of diabetes. Type I (juvenile) which is usually developed as a child and is not the fault of the patient. And it is genetic. This is caused when the pancreas does not break down glucose (sugar) in the blood. This is the type that requires insulin every day. Type II is the type that you are worried about. This can be caused by obesity and poor diet. This form is more of an intolerance to insulin and can be prevented with a nutritious diet and lots of exersise. So even if your sister is not obese, its important to exercise even before she puts on that occasional few extra pounds.
You should try suggesting that you join a gym together or tactfully suggest alternatives to things like soda (crystal light, sugar free red bull, even a good old fashion glass of h2o), candy (they've made so many advancements in this area. sugar free candy is not just for old people anymore) and smarter carbs like pasta and bagels, instead of donuts and potato chips.
Its so cool that you look out for your big sis. I'm a big sis with Type I diabetes and even though I couldnt have prevented it, its good to know our little sisters are looking out for us (no matter how much we harass them!)

Contrary to popular belief, diabetes does not only hit the overweight or old people nor does type 1 only be for the kids. Older people also develop type 1 diabetes.
Huge amounts of food or sugar have nothing at all to do with diabetes!! She just has a very bad habit of stuffing her face when at rest.
I am a grandmother, type 2 on oral meds and insulins!! I must have the insulin to control the glucose levels. So never think that just older, fatter, couch potato people get type 2 and can control it with diet and exercise.
One of my friends at age 50 was diagnosed with type 1!! That was a shock! It is not necessarily genetic, nor is it "you were born with it" sort of disease.
Mine is genetic!! My mother had diabetes and one of my dad's sisters had it. Both type 2 I think. Not sure about the generations before that, because it was not tested for nor treated.
You should be worrying about your self as well! Be sure to get tested annually!!
