Unfortantely, my cat is obese and she cannot properly groom
all of herself. My other cat will clean her and I brush her daily,
but should I possibly wash her with "cat shampoo" or do you
think she is getting the proper grooming needed.

Make sure you brush the obese cat every day. This will help get rid of dead hair and dander. You can try a "cat shampoo" or maybe a dry shampoo. Check with your local pet stores for these items. The dry shampoo is sprinkled on then brushed out. It may help your kitty.

As long as she's not getting scruffy/unkempt looking, or stinky, I think she is probably fine. I had an obese cat too. Occasionally I would have to clean his hind end (quick shampoo & rinse of the butt) but otherwise the other cat kept him pretty clean.
How obese is your cat? Mine was 23 lbs. If you are interested in getting weight off her I suggest Eukenuba weight loss. I found out the other 'lite' foods use fiber to help fill the cat up, which doesn't do much good. It's carbohydrate and keeps the cat fat. Eukenuba uses high protein, I recommend switching your cat to high protein.
After my 23 lb cat died of diabetes, I put my 17 pound other cat on Eukenuba and also a high quality (Authority) cat food and she lost 3 lbs this year...this is after YEARS of trying to get them to lose weight!
Anyway just thought I'd pass that along if you were interested :)

well, you can start helping her by taking her to the vet to get checked out to see if there is a medical reason she is obese if not then either the vet will put her on some diet food or tell you to get some food for weightloss or give her 10%less food per day.

I think if she doesn't smell and seems well groomed, that she is fine. Make sure she doesn't get mats if she has long hair.
A bath won't hurt her at all either. Especially around the "exits".
Just FYI, it is almost impossible to get a fat cat to slim down. Their bodies adjust to the calorie intake, so that they rarely lose weight.
