What role do you think American corporations have contributed to obesity?I am trying to find out how those that consider obesity believe that American corporations have promoted unhealthy and large portion diets that make them responsible for the epidemic.

Corporations contribute, but it is up to the consumer. Just think if we didn't have these constant advertisements thrown at us it would be much easier to resist. But, like I said it comes down to a persons own resilience.

American corps only care about profit margins and exist completely on demand. They understand how the human psyche works in regards to advertising. They are counting on people not being educated about diet and nutrition and not taking the time to cook for themselves, read ingredients and labels.

Companies can market their products however they wish. They can call rocky road ice cream a health food if they want. It's up to the consumer to choose what is good for them and what is junk. It's really not that hard - you can count on most prepackaged items to be processed and hence unhealthy. You can't go wrong with whole foods that you must prepare yourself. The problem is, many people seek the easy way by choosing not to prepare food themselves, not educating themselves, and selecting foods that are convenient and taste good rather than what's actually healthy.

What does drive me crazy is that often healthy foods are expensive, and sometimes not available everywhere as where you can find unhealthy foods accessible and cheap nearly everywhere. But, often worthwhile things aren't easy.
